Grand Center Theatre CrawlIt’s coming—The Third Annual Grand Center Theatre Crawl is next Friday, July 3, 6-9pm! Sample the best of St. Louis theatre in one evening, with performances from nine local companies. Every half hour, stroll to a different Grand Center venue for a short show, with genres ranging from classic opera to contemporary comedy. But wait—there’s more: Did we mention there will be prizes? Music at the IntersectionMusic @ The Intersection is the innovative new music festival showcasing the best of Missouri talent across genres. Featuring local beer tents, street art, food and drink specials, and so much more, this unique festival is just one of the “66 Reasons to Love St. Louis!” The Festival kicks off with a night of Blues and Jazz on Friday, July 17, followed by soul, R&B, and hip-hop music on Friday, August 14, and wrapping up with folk and country music on Friday, September 11. Black Musical Icons: Portraiture of Lenard Hinds


The Vaughn Cultural Center at the Urban League of Metropolitan St. Louis invites you to celebrate the close of Black Music Month with artist/musician Lenard Hinds. On Tuesday, June 30, the VCC will host a musical reception and gallery talk from 6:00 to 9:00pm for the exhibition “Black Musical Icons: Portraiture of Lenard Hinds,” featuring 20 portraits of music legends. The event is free and open to the public. More info

The Nerd Herd performs at GCAA

On Friday July 3, experience dance as you’ve never seen it before at the Grand Center Arts Academy (formerly SUN) Theatre, 7:00-8:00pm. The evening will feature the school’s award-winning hip hop crew, “The Nerd Herd,” who won First Place at last summer’s Legacy National Dance Competition, and will include special guest performances from Grand Center Arts Academy’s Dance Ensemble and Ashleyliane Dance Company. Tickets are $10 ($5 students) at the door. More info

OVERVIEW_2015 is a group exhibition highlighting the vitality and creativity of artists affiliated with the Bruno David Gallery. In this overview, a single conclusion about one type of artwork cannot be clearly defined in a single adjective. Instead, the artists break down the word ‘original’ to form new meanings of the definition. The exhibition will be on view throughout July and August. More info

Soundwaves: Records + Art

Pulitzer Arts Foundation and KDHX have teamed up for a new iteration of “Soundwaves,” July 8 – August 1, in which gallery visitors will choose the playlist. A collection of records, pre-selected by KDHX DJs and local record collectors in response to the exhibitions on view, will be available for visitors to play in the galleries, adding new dimensions to the exhibitions through interactions with sound. Arts Incubator: IPHF Presents “Nanjing Style: Photographs from our Sister City”

African Dance & Drum Class with Bokulaka

BokulakaAfrican Musical Arts invites you to join noted dancer/choreographer/drummer Chief Bokulaka Thursday, July 9, 5-7pm. Move to the vibrant Soukous dances and feel the pulse of drumming styles from Bokulaka’s home country, the Democratic Republic of Congo. No experience necessary, just enthusiasm!
