Public Media Commons and Third Baptist Church
Offer Community-Focused Programs

Looking at Ferguson
The St. Louis community is invited to Grand Center to engage in productive dialogue about the issues of race in our City. On Friday, August 7, The Nine Network and St. Louis Public Radio will activate the Public Media Commons with “Looking at Ferguson,” a screening of community-created content centered on issues brought to the forefront when mourners and protesters took to the streets in August 2014. All are invited to participate in conversation and reflect on the events of the past year, the systemic challenges we face, and the future of our community. The event is free and part of First Fridays in Grand Center. Join the Facebook Event.
Day of Hope
Join friends and neighbors from across the city for “A Day of Hope” at Third Baptist Church on Saturday, August 8. The event will feature the documentary “Beneath the Skin,” followed by discussion led by a speaker panel. The film focuses on past mistakes and future challenges regarding racial unity and social justice, and points out that racism is far from eradicated—inside or outside the church. Yet many are working together in proactive ways to break down the racial and ethnic walls of division. This day of worship and dialogue on the anniversary of Michael Brown’s death is presented by Central Baptist Theological Seminary. More info
