Jack Moelmann Plays The Mighty Fox Wurlitzer

On Sunday, August 23 at 2 pm, The Fabulous Fox presents “Those Were The Days: Jack Moelmann & Friends: Walt Strony and Lew Williams At the Wurlitzer Organ.” It has been ten years since the Fox Theatre featured its Mighty Wurlitzer in a public concert, with Stan Kann accompanying the silent movie The Mark of Zorro. Jack Moelmann is now the force behind the organ, and has programmed an afternoon sure to delight all ages. Audience members will be invited to join a lively sing-a-long, and will also enjoy a short silent movie featuring Laurel and Hardy, accompanied live by Moelmann! Tickets

66 Reasons to Love St. Louis

A 1,200-square-foot mural capturing St. Louis’ unique qualities has been commissioned by Phillips 66 as a gift to the city. Local father/daughter muralists, Robert and Liza Fishbone, have begun work on a mural that showcases the 66 Reasons to Love St. Louis, which will appear in a published guide of the same title. The mural will adorn the western-facing wall of KDHX at 3524 Washington Ave. in Grand Center. Come see the finished piece on September 11 at the Music at the Intersection Festival! See more here

Grand Center Architecture Tours

Attention St. Louis history buffs – the Grand Center Architecture and History Tour is back! The 1.5 mile walking tour, sponsored by Enterprise Bank and Trust, provides a fascinating look into the District’s magnificent buildings, rich history, dynamic neighborhood, and vibrant arts culture. The FREE tours are offered every Saturday from September 12 to October 31, 10 am-12 pm. Expert guides take walkers on a journey back in time, supported by a richly detailed narrated history, as well as provide a glimpse of the exciting plans for the future. Register online then meet the tour group in front of Magnolia Cafe at KDHX (3524 Washington Blvd).

Exhibition Opening at SLUMA


The Saint Louis University Museum of Art will host the Opening Reception for Painting the Midwest: Selections from the Collection of Timothy and Jeanne Drone on Friday, August 21 at 5 pm. More than 65 acclaimed works by Thomas Hart Benton, Joe Jones, George Caleb Bingham and Karl Bodmer are included in the exhibition, on view through December 20. More info

Live in The Commons: The 442s

The 442s

On Monday, August 24, the 442s take the stage in the Public Media Commons to share their distinctive and innovative blend of jazz, classical, folk and rock music. The band’s self-titled debut album was released last summer and has received critical acclaim here in St. Louis and across the country. This concert is presented by the Nine Network and St. Louis Symphony and is supported by the Whitaker Foundation. Feyza Eren Group at The Sheldon


Jazz vocalist Feyza Eren returned to her hometown of St. Louis about 4 years ago after spending 16 years singing jazz with Turkey’s finest musicians. On Tuesday, August 25 at 7:30 pm, she will perform for the “Notes from Home” series with some of St. Louis’ finest musicians: Steve Davis - drums, Paul DeMarinis - saxophones, Kim Portnoy - piano, and Ric Vice - bass.
