New Leadership for Grand Center, Inc.

Karin Hagaman
Grand Center, Inc. is proud to announce that Karin M. Hagaman has been named President and CEO, effective September 14. Ms. Hagaman succeeds Vince Schoemehl, who announced his retirement at the end of 2014. Ms. Hagaman received a BA from Harvard, and an MBA & MSW from Washington University, and was most recently Director of Project Development for the Coretex Innovation Community. Prior to Cortex, Hagaman worked at The St. Louis Development Corporation, Development Strategies, and St. Louis 2004. Please join us in welcoming Ms. Hagaman to Grand Center!  More info

Grand Center Architecture Tours

Attention St. Louis history buffs--the Grand Center Architecture and History Tour is back! The 1.5 mile walking tour, sponsored by Enterprise Bank and Trust, provides a fascinating look into the District’s magnificent buildings, rich history, dynamic neighborhood, and vibrant arts culture. The FREE tours are offered every Saturday from September 12 to October 31, 10am-12pm. Join expert guides on a journey back in time, supported by a richly detailed narrated history and a glimpse of the exciting plans for the future. Register online then meet the tour group in front of Magnolia Cafe at KDHX (3524 Washington Blvd) near the intersection of Grand and Washington.

St. Louis Symphony Opening Weekend

The St. Louis Symphony opens the 2015-2016 Season with celebrated violinist Joshua Bell, Friday-Sunday, September 18-20. Known as “the greatest American violinist active today (The Boston Herald),” Joshua Bell takes center stage in Lalo’s daring Symphonie espagnole, a work memorable for its pyrotechnics and outstanding melodic and rhythmic flair. Music Director David Robertson will lead the Symphony in the program that also includes works from Janáček (Taras Bulba) and Kodály (Háry János Suite). Reserve your tickets now!

Dine On Dance

Karlovsky & Company Dance is proud to host the 12th Annual Dine on Dance Lunchtime Performances featuring professional contemporary and site-specific dance and live music! On Friday, September 18, come out to Strauss Park from noon until 1:00pm to celebrate 12 years of dance outside with choreography by: Alice Bloch / Gabriella Deakin / Dawn Karlovsky / Ashley Tate / Elise Marie Ringenberg / Rafael Tilery. Social Ecology and Green Design

Green Varnish

The Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis will celebrate the closing of “Green Varnish”—the Museum’s inaugural courtyard installation designed by landscape architecture firm Nomad Studio—by hosting a beer garden followed by a talk by Dr. Adrián Cerezo. During the event on Tuesday, September 22, Cerezo will use “Green Varnish” as the jumping point to explore the sociological mythology of gardens and design, from Adam and Eve to the present. This event is part of Saint Louis Design Week (September 19–25).  Register for the event

Ernest H. Brooks II: The Silver Seas Project

St. Louis Folk and Roots Festival

The Sheldon and KDHX present the 4th Annual Folk and Roots Festival, a four-day event celebrating folk and roots music, throughout Grand Center. “Sanctuary” by Andrea Centazzo

Andrea CentazzoHEARding Cats Collective presents percussionist Andrea Centazzo live on Friday, September 18. Centazzo has performed in many of the most important festivals and concert seasons both in Europe and USA. The Kranzberg Jazz Jam

Kranzberg Jazz Jam Every Wednesday, Bob Deboo hosts “The Kranzberg Jazz Jam,” featuring special guests from around the St. Louis area. This FREE event is open to all musicians of all ages.
