Curtain Call Champagne Bar
Opening at The Fabulous Fox

Fox Associates, LLC is proud to announce the opening of Curtain Call Lounge, St. Louis’ first Champagne Bar, located just to the south of the Fox Theatre on Grand Blvd. The venue will feature an extensive selection of Champagnes and wines by the glass, local craft beers on tap and a cocktail menu that blends the freshly made flavors of classic cocktails. Seasonal culinary small plates and shared menu items plus a selection of desserts will also be available. Curtain Call Lounge will open to the public on Friday, December 18. The venue will open at 5 p.m. and remain open until two hours after all evening performances at the Fox. When there is a matinee, doors will open following the matinee and remain open until two hours after the evening performance. More info

High School Musical Theatre Awards
Comes to St. Louis

The Fabulous Fox Theatre, The Muny and the Fox Performing Arts Charitable Foundation (FPACF) have announced a joint sponsorship of the first annual St. Louis High School Musical Theatre Awards for the 2016-17 school year. High school musicals will be adjudicated and an awards show will take place at the Fox Theatre on May 28, 2017 with winners announced in 15 categories including Best Actress and Best Actor who will go on to compete in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards in New York City.

The St. Louis High School Musical Theatre Awards will have a maximum of 30 schools participating. The link to the application will be available on the Fox, FPACF, and Muny websites by December 31, and applications will be accepted January 1 - April 1. First Fridays Returns in February

First Fridays in Grand Center will not occur on January 1, since many of the venues will be closed on New Year's Day. The event will return on Friday, February 5.

Colors of Cuba at Bullivant Gallery

Celebrate the Colors of Cuba at a special two-day exhibition presented by Stewart Halperin, Bullivant Gallery and Jeff Hirsch in support of Delta Gamma Center for Children with Visual Impairments. Enjoy Cuban art, food and music during the opening reception on Friday, December 18, 5-9 p.m. The exhibition will feature photography from the 2015 Colors of Cuba trip and workshop, and will be open to the public on Friday, December 18, 5-9pm and Saturday, December 19, 10am-3pm. Fabulous Music at The Sheldon

It’s a great weekend for great music! On Saturday, December 19 at 8 p.m., Belleville native Jay Farrar returns to The Sheldon to celebrate the 20th anniversary re-release of his band Son Volt’s landmark album, Trace. Farrar often seeks out the ghosts of America’s forgotten past and writes songs that harken towards a better future.

The legendary Melvin Turnage Band featuring Ms. Tonya Poynter will host its Holiday Show in the 50th Anniversary “Songs of My Life” concert series on Saturday, December 19 at 7 p.m. in the historic Sun Theater at Grand Center, 3625 Grandel Square. The jazz, blues and contemporary pop band, comprised of seasoned local musicians and singers, will offer performances throughout the coming year as part of the “Songs of My Life” concert series. St. Louis: A Chinese Perspective


The International Photography Hall of Fame celebrates our Sister City Collaborative with the Federation of the Arts Photographers from Nanjing, China through the exhibition St. Louis: A Chinese Perspective, December 23 - February 28.  In the spring of 2015, Sixteen Chinese Photographers came to St. Louis to capture their perspective of the region in a reciprocation of a visit that IPHF photographers made to Nanjing one year ago.

Bach Society Christmas Candlelight Concert

On Wednesday, December 23 the Bach Society of Saint Louis Chorus & Orchestra will perform their Christmas Candlelight Concert at Powell Hall. World-renowned soprano Christine Brewer will sing “The Announcement of Christ’s Birth” from Handel’s Messiah, plus a new setting of “O Holy Night.” Special guests, the St. Louis Children’s Choirs, join in for traditional carols of the season and the candlelight procession, a cornerstone of this concert since 1951.
